As we already told you in the previous article, the wonderful thing about matcha is that you are actually consuming the tea leaves.

You can consume the insoluble nutrients from matcha that you can’t consume from other green teas.
And matcha contains theanine which is a nutrient that is attracting a lot of attention nowadays. This time we will tell you how the nutrients contained in matcha can benefit your body.

Catechin support your diet

Catechin is a type of polyphenol that is contained in foods such as green teas, persimmons and apples.
Of course, if you are taking a lot of catechin, it doesn’t mean you will lose weight.
However, catechin has antioxidant properties and can slow increases in blood sugar levels.

By slowing down the increase in blood sugar levels, fat production will decreased. Therefore,  catechin is a nutrient compound that can support people who are trying to lose weight.
Matcha contains twice as much catechin as other green teas.

Theanine has an effect on relaxation and stress reduction

Theanine is a type of amino acid and as a  nutrient, it is attracting much attention.
Matcha  can contain up to  ten times as much theanine as other green teas.
Theanine has a relaxing effect because it activates the parasympathetic nerve system  and suppresses brain excitement.

For people who are always feeling stressed out from their job or household chores, we recommend drinking matcha to  reducing stress and relaxing.
In addition, autonomic nerves are activated by the stimulation of parasympathetic nerves. Therefore, the contraction of peripheral blood vessels can be suppressed.
This may have the  effect of improving blood circulation and warming your body.

Prevent diabetes and obesity with saponin

Saponin is a compound found  in legume leaves and roots.
Saponin can decrease blood sugar levels.
Because of this, saponin may help in the  prevention of diabetes and obesity. It may also be an effective anti-allergen.
In addition, saponin makes bubbles when dissolved in water. When people whip matcha, bubbles appear on the surface of the matcha.

 Other effective Compounds

Caffeine: Caffeine is a compound  that can ‘enhance concentration’ and ‘prevent dementia and Alzheimers’.

Matcha contains 32mg of caffeine per 1gram of powder.
When people make matcha, 2g of powder is the standard amount for 60ml of hot water.
That means, you will  consume about  64mg of caffeine from a single cup of matcha tea.
One cup of coffee(150ml made with 10g of beans) has 60mg of caffeine, so one cup of matcha contains almost the same amount of caffeine as one cup of coffee.
But as we mentioned before, matcha contains a lot of theanines, so it works to suppress excitability.
Despite containing almost the same amount of caffeine as coffee, you will remain relaxed and increase your concentration at the same time.
However, if you drink matcha too much, you may not able to sleep. We recommend you to drink 1~2 cups of matcha a day  in the morning or around noon. It is also a good idea to dilute it with soy milk.

Vitamin C:Matcha has a lot of Vitamin C.

As you know, vitamin C is an essential ingredient for making beautiful skin.
It is said that it has the effect of suppressing melanin pigments and it works to prevent mottled skin.
In addition, it may be effective for anti-aging because it supports the production of collagen and has antioxidant properties.
Matcha is a perfect drink for women because it has plenty of vitamin C which is an essential nutrient for keeping your skin beautiful.

That’s why matcha is called a superfood

As I have shown you, matcha has so many beneficial compounds and nutrients that can be easily absorbed by your body. In addition, as we learn more and more about the benefits of theanine, we can see that matcha truly has the properties of a superfood.
